The longest standing gay bar/nightclub/ motel/theater, Parliament House, opened in 1975 and still stands strong today. A huge leap forward for the LGBT community happened in 1989 when Walt Disney World opened Pleasure Island, a nightclub playground that was gay-friendly. Sadly, in 2008, Pleasure Island as a gay community hub closed and was replaced with shops and restaurants. Disney World now has an annual celebration, known as Gay Days that has been happening annually for 15+ years in June.
